  CAPABILITIES

Atlas Castings & Technology is no longer just a foundry. To meet our customers ever changing requirements, Atlas has expanded its capabilities beyond making castings. Atlas has continually applied new technology to the casting process to change the foundry from an art to a modern full service manufacturing facility. Atlas now offers complete project management including casting, fabrication, machining, pressure testing, and special painting. This allows the customer to place one order for the complete manufacture of the required component, from conceptual design to finished part ready for installation.

With the installation of Pro/Engineer and Magmasoft software programs, we are able to receive electronic models from customers and work with their engineers to help concurrently design castings. Once the 3D model of the casting is finalized, a rapid prototype pattern can be produced using Camax software to generate tool paths and a 5 axis Shoda router to machine the pattern, all electronically.

Atlas is one of only a few foundries that has an Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) vessel that refines liquid metal to achieve better mechanical and corrosion resistant properties.

To assure casting quality, the Quality Assurance Department at Atlas is equipped with an 8 mev linear accelerator supplemented with one Cobalt and one Iridium radioactive source for RE, as well as UE, MPE, and LPE Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) capabilities.

Atlas currently manages the machining of over half of the castings it produces. Rough and final machining is available using several subcontracted machine shops. Because of our extensive welding ability, fabrication is also available to compliment our casting and machining capabilities.
