NON-DESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION
Complete inspection are located in the finishing facility facilities at Atlas Castings & Technology to accomplish dimensional inspection, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and radiographic examination. In house radiographic capabilities consist of three vaults and include 200 curies of Iridium 192 for sections up to 3 ", 220 curies of Cobalt 60 for sections up to 8" and an 8 MEV linear accelerator for materials up to 20" in thickness.
All Atlas inspection personnel performing or supervising nondestructive examination on castings have been qualified and certified to the ASNT (American Society for Non-Destructive Testing) Supplement SNT-TC-1A. In addition inspection personnel hold qualifications for NAVSEA 250-1500-1 and MIL-STD-2132SH. Supervisory personnel are qualified to Levels II and III. Operators are trained and certified to Levels I and II in a continuing program of education and participation. Atlas maintains ASNT qualified National level III inspectors in the examination methods of Ultrasonics, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Visual and Radiography.
