FABRICATION
Fabrication welding is performed at Atlas Castings and Technology. Both welders and welding procedures are certified to a variety of specifications including ASME Section IX, MIL-STD-248, NAVSEA 250-1500, and AWS D1.1. Atlas has over 450 qualified welding procedures and typically has between 25 and 35 qualified welders on staff.
Fabrications at Atlas encompass requirements from simple nipples and flanges, overlays for wear or corrosion resistance, to complex finish machined assemblies weighing up to 32 tons. The welding methods used include SMAW, FCAW, GTAW and SAW. Welding positioners, power rolls, welding manipulators, and automated welders are available for welding complex fabrications. For large complex castings, making more than one casting and fabricating them together is also an option.
With the acquisition of Ideal Machine in March of 2005, Atlas has greatly increased its fabrication capabilities.
