MACHINING
Atlas Castings & Technology routinely provides rough and finish machined castings to our customers. Our fully staffed machining subcontract services department maintains 15 qualified vendors for machining. These services include horizontal milling, vertical boring, blanchard grinding, drilling, and tapping. Atlas routinely purchases in excess of 100,000 hours annually in subcontract machining. These services can vary from simple proof machining to complex finish machined components that are shipped directly to the field ready for installation. When coupled with nondestructive testing, proof machining can reduce overall cycle time and help insure desired casting quality.
With the acquisition of Ideal Machine in March of 2005, Atlas has increased control of machining schedules which greatly helps customers meet time to market needs.
After final machining, Atlas can also supervise hydrostatic pressure testing up to 5000 psi and special painting with our certified subcontractors.
