We’re happy to report that the foundry resumed full-capacity pouring operations on October 30, just 24 days after the devastating propane explosion. Our hard-working, dedicated employees deserve huge thanks. In addition, the local utility company worked with us to restore finishing operations just two days after the accident. As a result, shipments for October were at 94 percent of projections – a fantastic accomplishment.

The burn, arc and heat-treat buildings were seriously damaged in the explosion, and we will replace these with new facilities that will increase our capacity by about 30 percent. Ironically, this will eliminate an historical bottleneck in these operations.

We are quickly approaching a point where we will be back at full capacity, meaning all 140 employees idled by this tragic accident will be back at work, earning full pay. That’s good news for our employees’ families, as well as the surrounding community. Thanks to everyone – local businesses, our neighbors, customers, and the people of Tacoma for their support while we rise from this unfortunate event. We’ll be back, stronger and safer than ever.
